We are Jeroen van der Burg and Jolanda Frentz, admirers of decorative arts such as Art Deco, Art Nouveau and Jugendstil. We live in The Netherlands in the Arnhem district Transvaal, which was built around 1900, a period in which the decorative arts were fully incorporated in architecture, furniture and utensils. In addition to Art Deco furniture, we also collect utensils and decorative objects from the early twentieth century - for decoration, but also for daily use.
A stylish tableware set proved difficult to find. Antique earthenware dinnerware is often fragile and rarely survives a hundred years. A complete tableware set is therefore virtually unobtainable. Because we couldn’t find a new tableware set in this style, we decided to design an Art Deco tableware set ourselves. For this design, we used the decorative style of Chris van der Hoef, a Dutch Art Deco designer of the time. (See "Chris van der Hoef and the 'New Art')
We are very pleased with our ‘Chris’ Tableware set. If you are interested in this tableware set or any other Art Deco repro design, please contact us.
